The slippery slope of compromise

COMPROMISE AND OTHER SLIPPERY SLOPES

The slippery slope of compromise is a real thing in the life of a christian. The definition of compromise is a settlement of differences in which each side makes concessions.  One definition Webster gave was a weakening or reduction of one’s principles or standards.
The slippery slope to Biblical compromise happens as we try to mix all the things in a stew pot along with the gospel. The idols in the sloppy soup mix of compromise slowly rise to the top of the mix.  Plain and simple…it’s idol worship and it’s costly.  It just doesn’t cost us but it cost generations to come.
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. Do not have other gods besides me. Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. You must not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers sin, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commands.  Exodus 20: 2-7
Often times we don’t realize these things  have become more important to us than the gospel.
I’m humbled by what God continues to show me has been in the mix while I have been sharing the gospel. Humbled and broken…. I know He is doing a great work. He’s cleaning house! It’s what He does!
He’s challenging priorities, checking foundations and asking for more! God tends to strip though these that need a thorough cleaning. It is a season for me that God is requiring a good stripping from me.  Holy Spirit asks tough questions sometimes.  What have you added to the simplicity of the gospel?  Are there any idols on the platform of your heart?

If we compromise the gospel have we lost the integrity of it?
