Week 3 Day 3 focuses on James 3:7-12
Marina and Mason’s launching pad statement for today is: Yesterday, we saw that words can move mountains, both in our hearts and in the hearts of others. Today, James shows us how hypocritical our tongues can be
Do we have a tongue for worship? Do we bless and curse from the same lips? James shoots us straight. We are still on the tongue today folks! The tongue could be a month long study. It seems we struggle with this more than we care to be honest about. James is harsh today but truthful. We learn bitter and sweet words shouldn’t be coming from the same stream. We learn our tongue is set on fire by hell. These are soul searching words. We bless God but then speak curses over those around us that were created in His image. Can you even sit with that? This exposes the darkness of our heart! Our tongue spews what is buried within our hearts.

- We have been called to follow Jesus’ example to glorify God and love our fellow man with our words.
- Jesus taught about this very thing in Matthew 5:1-20. He explains that what a person says reveal what is in his or her heart. Just sit down with a person and ask them normal questions. If you listen, even with half an ear, you’ll begin to pick up on what they believe, what they value, and what they are committed to.
