Transforming Trials
Week 2 Day 1
Transforming Trials is an amazing Bible study written by my good friends, Mason and Marina Shelton. I can’t wait to share them with you.
Week 2 Day 1 focuses on James 1: 22-25
Faith and works can be a complicated dynamic to wrap your head around as a new Christian. Marina and Mason do a great job this week to help the pieces fit.
Marina and Mason’s launching pad statement for today is: Trials often paralyze us, but genuine faith acts! Even in hard times, our faith has an opportunity to grow.
Am I a doer of the word or do I just listen really well. No one gains true wisdom and walks away from it yet we all do it! We all look in the mirror and think, “it’ll do!” But “it’ll do” kind of hearing wont’ work in our pursuit of God. I don’t want to forget what Christ has instructed of me! I have to step in and act of what I have heard. This is where faith starts “acting”. Asking God for wisdom then being obedient is faith.
Some take-away “one liners” I see from Mason and Marina for Week 2 day 1 are listed below:
-When we ask God for wisdom, he gives it to us as we seek for it.
-Christian meditation is not emptying our mind, but intentionally filing it with God and his truth.
What am I seeking? Are you seeking His wisdom or the world’s?
